Ruby
Meet Ruby.
AKA "Ruby Roo"
the newest member of the Dolezalek family.
Night one, she was terrified.
She was shy and shaky and
not quite sure about the kids
(especially Luca - probably the costumes)
She wouldn't walk on a leash, not even a step.
On night two Ruby escaped.
she planned her escape by digging a tunnel
under the fence and escaped out of the backyard.
We found her pretty quickly, after a
super stressful panicked search.
We're hoping she fattens up a bit so that
escaping isn't quite as easy.
Since then she has warmed up to us.
She is sweet and playful and totally my shadow.
She sleeps in our bed and even lets me
sleep after a night shift.
She is tolerant of the kids and
doesn't seem too frightened by Luca's costumes anymore.
We're hoping to break her of a few bad habits like
that end tables are not an appropriate place for
dogs to sit. Slow steps.
We are loving Ruby Roo.

Zoe Aloe Salomaki
Little Zoe arrived almost two weeks late.
I have known Zoe's mama since the day I was born,
or whenever it was that our mom's first became friends.
I feel so so lucky to have been a part of Zoe's birth.
Although not planned, I got to actually deliver baby Zoe.
Due to a super busy midwife, some amazing pushing by Megan
and quite possibly a hip check
out of the way of awesome nurse Mary by myself
I delivered Zoe...not in my scrubs but
in my sweatpants, slippers and with just one glove on.
Awesome.
Zoe, you are loved.
Your mom and dad are going to raise you
to be one hip kid.
I can't wait to see you grow to be your
own little person and hopefully become
an artsy garden nerd just like your parents.
Welcome to the world Zoe Aloe.
